Adobe's Best Photo Award
Photoshop World - Las Vegas, NV
Mad Scientist
I was fortunate enough to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend The Adobe Photoshop World Convention. Every day was filled with classes about Photoshop, and an expo with photography gadgets and software with different contest opportunities. On the first day I heard about the Adobe photo contest - every photographer at the convention had an opportunity to capture images at each Westcott Lighting booths to submit for this contest. There were three booths set up with different themes and models each day, swarmed with artists and their cameras. The rules were to submit one of your favorite photographs the day you captured it, upload it at the Adobe booth to retouch it on site, and submit it with your image title and contact information. I submitted my “Mad Scientist” image, in hopes to beat out hundreds of other photographers and win the newest version of Photoshop and Lightroom. On the last day of the convention I was anticipating the closing ceremony where the winners would be revealed. They announced a winner from Wednesday's submissions, followed by Thursday's submissions, and lastly Friday’s submissions - this was my chance. As they announced Friday’s Best Photo winner, I saw my image projected in front of everyone who attended the convention. All eyes were on me as I stood up, jumped, and screamed with excitement! I will never forget how proud I was in that moment. This image will forever be a favorite of mine, not only because of the story behind it, but because of what it represents. It is a reminder that having confidence to put yourself and your artwork out there can be followed by much reward.
